Mission & Vision

The mission of BCMHARI is to bring together and strengthen existing mental health and addictions research capacity, and to build and enhance partnerships with health authorities, universities, and other individuals and agencies within the province, nationally, and internationally.

The vision for BCMHARI is to be a world class facility where internationally recognized researchers are creating knowledge that promises to change our understanding and treatment of mental disorders, complex addictions and concurrent disorders.

Areas of research include both basic and translational research, and fall within the four themes identified by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR):
