Description of Research Program
I am interested in understanding the patterns of computer and gaming station use in youth with psychiatric disorders. Previous research suggests that overuse is associated with psychiatric symptoms, but we know little about use in youth with psychiatric disorders. I want to know how much time youth are spending on the computer/gaming-station; how many youth have problem or "addictive" use; and whether use is associated with problems in their daily functioning. I would also like to understand the long term effects of excessive "screen time" on child development.
